Our class is called Moonbeams. Moonbeams are taught by Miss Bennett (class teacher) and Miss Ammar (teaching assistant).
This week we have been learning about two different famous artist. Their names are Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet.
We have recreated some of their most famous paintings in our own style.
We used paint and oil pastels for Van Gogh's sunflower painting.
We used paper plates, sponges, paint and cupcake cases to make water lily ponds inspired by Monet.
This week we have been celebrating World Book Week. We have been focusing our learning on the book 'Handa's Surprise.'
We use drama to act out the story, we tasted different fruit from around the world and thought of adjectives to describe it and we went into Year 5 and made some animal masks. We have had lots of fun!
In Science we have been sorting out materials by their properties. We investigated the properties soft, hard, rough, smooth and shiny.
In Maths we have been using numicon to make number bonds to 20.
This week we have been learning about subtraction.

This week we have been learning the story of Cinderella.
We thought of adjectives to describe each of the characters.
This week we have been learning about comparing length in maths. We had to use vocabulary such as; shorter, longer, shortest, longest, taller and tallest to describe objects in our classroom. As an extra challenge we made cube towers shorter, longer and equal to a pencil.
This week we have been learning about shape.
We had our Family Fortnight workshop on Friday and we worked together with our families to complete different activities.
We had lots of fun making 3D shape monsters, finding 3D shapes in the sandpit, using 2D shapes to create a picture, sorting 3D shapes and using play dough to make 3D shapes.

In Maths this week we have been learning about odd and even numbers.
On Monday we explored odd and even numbers using a tens frame.
We played a game called 'odds and evens.'
In History we have been learning about the 'Great Fire of London.'
In pairs we made a time line about the Great Fire of London.
This week we have been reading the book 'How to Catch a Star.'
On Tuesday we went into the forest school to catch our own stars.
We really enjoyed getting into role!
This week we have been learning about Bonfire Night which takes place on Sunday 5th November.
In Literacy we have been learning about onomatopoeia.
We thought different onomatopoeia's to describe fireworks, such as; BOOM! CRASH! BANG!
We then created a poem about fireworks.
We have also created Bonfire crafts such as Catherine Wheels and small bonfires using tissue paper.
Today we went on a school trip to the library in St Albans. When we were at the library we went on a 'Where's Wally Hunt,' we listened to a story called 'Argh Spider,' and we also got to explore all of the different books.
In Science we have been using our senses to describe fruit.
In Maths this week we have been learning how to use a number line, in order to solve addition number sentences.
In Geography we went on a treasure hunt around the school. We had to use positional language to solve each clue.
We have been learning how to tell the time.
We have been enjoying our cross curricular learning this week. In P.E we put together a skeleton and we learnt the names of the different bones.
