Margaret Wix Primary School

Welcome

Margaret Wix Primary School is a successful, vibrant school - a school where children come first.  We have a highly motivated, resourceful, and committed team of staff and governors who care about and nurture the needs of every child, inspiring their creativity and brilliance in everything they do. Our school has a special feel - each child is valued as an individual and we pride ourselves on knowing all of our pupils very well - considering their happiness and well-being with every decision we make and ensuring they meet their potential. We have high aspirations for all our children - challenging them daily to take risks and be curious about their learning - encouraging them to go beyond what they thought was possible. We work closely with Happy Crew - a private nursery setting on our extensive school grounds - to offer birth to eleven childcare and education.

We want our children to be happy at school and for learning to be fun, interactive and challenging.  We set high expectations and want to give our children every opportunity to become confident and independent learners that care about others around them.  We work closely with our children, their parents, and carers (through a Parent Forum) to ensure this happens and recognise the importance of good communication between home and school.

Within our school site, we are fortunate to have extensive grounds including two large fields, a beautiful garden tended by our own children, a forest school area, and a wide variety of climbing equipment. We enjoy close links with our local secondary schools and the wider community. Our aim is to help the children to reach their full potential, to develop their social awareness and encourage each child to take part in extra-curricular activities, such as music, sport, gardening, singing, the performing arts and much, much more. We encourage children to take part in our Junior Citizenship Challenge where they can make a difference across the school and beyond through activities such as leading a change in the school; running a club; performing acts of kindness and so on.

I hope you find the information on our website useful, and that it will help us to form the beginning of a successful partnership in your child's education. The best way to appreciate what we offer is to visit and see learning in action and you also might be lucky enough to receive a very enthusiastic welcome from our school dog Scout! I look forward to meeting with you.
