Dear Monarchs Class,

Wow I can't believe that we are entering the last week of term already! Below is the last week of home learning. Let's keep it going to the end!

For those coming to school this week, please remember to return any school library books which are outstanding.

From Tuesday, please bring a large carrier bag for personal belongings to be taken home.

Let's make the last week AMAZING!

Dear Monarchs Class,

Another week has whizzed past and we find ourselves two weeks from the end of term! It was so lovely to see everyone in school in their new "Leavers 2020" hoodies. If you see Mrs Abbott around school, at a social distance, please make sure that you thank her as she worked really hard to make sure they were ordered and received by the end of termangel

I have added this week's home learning below and there are a few tricky conceptsenlightened to look at in maths. Make sure you watch all of the video tutorial and complete as much of the work as possible. The answers are also below so you can self mark when you have finished. Remember that as an alternative you can always follow the Bitesize lessons on BBC iPlayer or the red button of your TV or look at Corbett Maths for further lessons and videos.

Keep sending in your work to  or if you are receiving a home learning pack through the post remember to send back your work completed in the stamped addressed envelope!

Happy Learning!

Dear Monarchs Class,

Here is the home learning for this week. We are revising fractions and percentages which we have covered several times in the year so this really is nothing new! In English we are continuing to work on poetry based on "The City of Silence" booklet. Please remember that all written work should be completed to a Year 6 standard and using blue ink if possible. The afternoon lessons explore the festival of Vesak and there is an opportunity to have fun with some science experiments!  You can also continue to produce/complete research work on the USA.

Thank you to all those children who have sent their work to the home learning email. We really enjoy looking at what you have been doing!

Keep up the effort!

Mrs Rigarlsford wink

Dear Monarchs Class,

This week is "International Week" and our country of study is the USA.  I have included below 3 days of plans in the afternoon related to New York due to its amazing cultural diversity and history of immigrants and Native American Indians who were the indigenous people of North America before colonisation. If you would like more work to do you could choose to extend your learning about the USA and create your own mini project!yes

I have also included the lessons for Maths and English. The English PDF booklet "The City of Silence" can be found below as can the maths PDFs and answer sheets.

I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of good quality home learning on the school email this week and I'm looking forward to seeing most of you in class this week too!

Happy Learning!

Dear Monarchs Class,

Another week has flown by and here we are again!

I have enjoyed seeing all your home learning efforts on the home learning email. Please remember to try to send them in regularly rather than in one big attachment at the end of the week so the person manning the email can give you feedback. I've also included the maths and reading answer sheets so that you can mark your own answers or you could ask a parent or carer to do this! This gives you the opportunity to do any corrections too!

Have a great week!

Mrs Rigarlsfordwink

Dear Monarchs Class,

I can't believe another week has flown by and I am writing to you once again!

It was lovely to see so many of you in school last weekyes and to catch up on what you have been doing! I thought you all worked extremely hard in class and coped very maturely with the changes to school life. Well done all! I know that you will all work equally well for Miss Islam this week and I look forward to hearing about the learning that you have done!smiley

Please remember to continue to complete the home learning from this week's plan and send in examples of your work to the home learning email. It is always really exciting to take a look at all your efforts - I have been proud of you all! There are additional lessons on BBC Bitesize daily if you are at home all week.

Happy Learning!

Mrs Rigarlsfordwink

Dear Monarchs Class,

I hope that everybody has had a lovely break from learning over half term and managed to enjoy the sunshine!

Below is 3 days of home learning for this week because we will be back at school for 2 days! I am really excited to see everybody and hear all your news!

Remember to read the letter Mr Johnston sent to all parents about our return to school so you are clear about what will be happening for Year 6 as school starts again on Monday for some of you and Thursday for everyone else!

See you all soon!

Hello Monarchs Class,

Here is the weekly planning for week commencing 18/05/2020. There is the regular planning with a range of traditional activities or you can choose to follow the project plan or a combination of the two. Remember to do one English task, one Maths task and one other each day! yes

This week is "Wellbeing Week" so the project contains lots of fun activities to make you feel calm, happy and to think about being kind to yourself. smiley Try to complete some of these activities over the week if you can and remember to be kind to others in your household too.

I've really enjoyed looking at the range of work you have all been completing and sending in on the home learning email! It would be fantastic to see some of your wellbeing activities. Remember to also spend some time on Nessy and TT Rockstars. Mr Johnston will be looking for those pupils who have been "Home Learning Heroes" on Friday. Tune in to our virtual assembly to see if it is you!

Have a wonderful week!

Dear Monarchs Class,

As SATS week arrives it is not quite the same,

The tests that were printed this year never came,

The displays all still up: walls full of Maths 'rules'

But Year 6 very different, at present, in schools.

For some of you happiness, lots of relief,

For others a sigh of pure disbelief,

That you worked really hard in advance of this week,

Expected and Greater Depth marks you did seek.

Algebra, fractions, the times tables drills,

Inference, retrieval, in-depth reading skills,

Past present, progressive...and all the SPAG terms,

You've practised and mastered them over the years.

Fear not though, the SATS, yes, won't happen this term

But remember tests don't measure everything you learn,

Primary subjects are varied: you've always tried your best,

And many of those skills that you've gained can't be defined by a test.

So, here at Margaret Wix Primary, you've made us so proud

We sit with pride and we shout this out loud...

"Year 6 you amaze us, you've come incredibly far...

And you don't need a test to see how amazing you are!"

With best wishes,

Mrs Rigarlsford.smileyheartyes

P.S You can find this week's home learning planning and the PDFs below. I have also included another fun project on the Olympic Games if you prefer to do this!yes As a bit of fun, I will be posting a Fun SATS test every day...just to remind ourselves what we are missing this week! cheekywinkEnjoy your week and remember to keep sending in your work on the Home Learning E-Mail (I'm manning it on Monday!) Missing you all!

Dear Monarchs,

I have attached the home learning for week beginning 04/05/2020.

This week, there is the regular weekly plan but you will also see there is a special project plan entitled "Theme Parks". You can choose to follow either plan or a combination of the two. As long as you remember to complete 1 x Maths activity, 1 x English activity and one other subject each day! I hope that you are inspired by some of the activities this week! wink

You will also see I have included Friday on the plan even though it is a bank holiday. If you would prefer to spend time with your family, that is fine, don't worry about it! If you want to keep learning I will be really impressed! smiley

Don't forget to keep sending your work and any qustions to the home learning email, I love looking at what you have been learning! Also, don't forget to check the Margaret Wix School Facebook page with your parents for additional fun activities each day and our weekly virtual assembly with Mr Johnston!

Hope everyone is smiling! Happy Learning!

Dear Monarchs Class,

I know that many of you are completing home learning and it was great to speak to most of you on Friday when I contacted you by telephone. Please remember to send in some of your favourite home learning this week. It means that we get to stay in touch and I can tell you how fabulous your work is,as well as help you if you need it!

On Friday, Mr Johnston is carrying out a Celebration Assembly. Please continue to work hard and then you might get a certificate for your amazing work or the amount of coins you have got in TTRockstars or the amount of time you have spent using Nessy.

Below you will find the weekly planning and any worksheets you need to support it. Try to do your best to follow it each day. Alternatively, if you feel like something a little different, the BBC are providing online/TV lessons daily on the red button of your TV remote or through BBC iPlayer. Also, if your parents/carers have Facebook, there are daily challenges that you might enjoy.

Stay safe and keep up the hard work!

Mrs Rigarlsford 😊
