Reception transition 2026

We are delighted that you have accepted your child’s place here at Margaret Wix Primary School and we cannot wait to welcome you and your child to join our friendly school community.

Please find below some dates, which will give us the opportunity to meet with you and your child so that from the beginning of their time with us, they are happy, confident and ready to learn. Please note that over the coming weeks, staff from the Reception Class (Firetips class) will be visiting your child in their current setting to engage with them in a familiar place and to find out about their needs and interests from their current staff. A home visit will also be arranged if needed.

Please join us for the following events:

Thursday 21st May 10am - Meet the Headteacher & EYFS team. The presentation will be full of useful information as your child begins their educational journey. Here you will receive an induction booklet and transition document, with useful information. This will help prepare yourself and your child for life at Margaret Wix Primary School.

Tuesday 2nd June 2026 – 1.30pm – 2.30pm – Stay and Play with parent/carer. Come to the Firetips Classroom where our staff will be ready to welcome your child to our amazing setting, chat to you and give you an opportunity to talk to other parents and carers.

Tuesday 23rd June 2026 – 1.30pm – 2.30pm – Stay and Play- Independent. Come to the Firetips Classroom where our staff will be ready to welcome your child to our amazing setting, where they will stay on their own to play.

Thursday 9th July – 9:30am – 11am – Transition Morning. Bring your child to the Firetips Classroom for a morning in Reception where they will be able to get to know the whole teaching team and familiarise themselves with the environment without a parent or carer, building confidence for their September start.

Wednesday 15th July 2026 – 3.30pm – 4.15pm – Teddy Bears’ ‘Booknic’. Bring your child to the Firetips Classroom and we will provide a picnic, drinks and fun for you and your child before the summer break. Don’t forget a teddy and your favourite book.
