The children at Margaret Wix democratically chose the names of our school's house teams: they suggested names of inspirational people and then were involved in a school-wide vote. The chosen house names were:

Sir David Attenborough (the white team)

A much-loved broadcaster and natural historian who has spent his life teaching people about animals, plants and the natural world. Through his programmes, he has helped millions of people understand why our planet is so special and why we must protect it. He inspires us to be curious, respectful and to care for the world around us.

Malala Yousafzai (the blue team)

A campaigner for girls’ education who spoke up for the right of every child to go to school. Malala showed incredible courage and resilience when she continued to fight for equal access to education, even when it was dangerous for her to do so. She inspires us to believe in ourselves, use our voices and stand up for what is right.

Ellie Simmonds (the red team)

A Paralympic swimming champion who won gold medals for Great Britain and broke world records in the pool. Ellie showed great determination, resilience and self-belief throughout her sporting career and has also worked to challenge attitudes towards disability. She inspires us to keep trying, believe in ourselves and never let challenges stop us from aiming high.

Tim Peake (the green team)

A British astronaut who travelled to the International Space Station and became the first British ESA astronaut to visit space. Tim trained for years, carried out scientific experiments and even completed a spacewalk. He inspires us to stay curious, work hard and believe that, with determination and imagination, amazing things are possible.

Each term, the children work hard to earn house points, encouraged and led by the elected house captains. We also hold one house event each half-term through which bonus house points can be won, that are added to the half-term totals. The half-termly events are:

At the end of each half-term, the house with the most points earns a treat to celebrate their win with a non-uniform day.
