Margaret Wix Primary School

House Points

The children at Margaret Wix democratically chose the names of our school's house teams: they suggested names of inspirational people and then were involved in a school-wide vote. The chosen house names were:

Sir David Attenborough (the white team)

A famous explorer and naturalist who has spent his life showing people the wonder of animals, plants and our planet. He has travelled all over the world to share the beauty of nature and the importance of looking after it. He inspires us to love the Earth and protect it for the future.

Greta Thunberg (the green team)

A young climate activist who started speaking up about protecting the environment when she was just a teenager. Greta has Autism and says this helps her to see the world differently - we believe this is a super power. She shows us that even young voices can make a big difference in the world.

Sky Brown (the blue team)

A professional skateboarder and surfer who became Britain's youngest Olympic medal winner at the 2020 games. She began competing when she was very young and never gave up, despite getting injured. She inspires us by showing that with bravery, determination and practice, we can achieve amazing things, no matter our age.

Marcus Rashford (the red team)

A footballer who plays for England and Manchester Untied. He is also known for using his voice to help others, especially ensuring children were able to receive free school meals during the pandemic. He inspires us by proving that kindness and standing up for others is just as important as pursuing your own endeavours.

Each term, the children work hard to earn house points, encouraged and led by the elected house captains. We also hold one house event each half term through which bonus house points can be won, that are added to the half termly totals. The half-termly events are:
