Margaret Wix Primary School
What have the children at Margaret Wix Primary School been up to? For even more day to day interactions with the experiences of our children please visit our Facebook page.
This morning, the children at Margaret Wix Primary School enjoyed a Christmas Pantomime in our school hall. Laughter and shouts of joy could be heard across the school as the children watched the show. It was a wonderful performance and the children loved every minute.
On Tuesday 14th December, the children across the school joined together to wear Christmas jumpers and eat Christmas Lunch. Thank you to our wonderful kitchen staff for preparing a feast and our school staff for serving the children. Our children had a lovely time!
On Friday 10th December, parents and carers were treated to a mini concert by our awesome violinists. A very tricky instrument to play, I was very impressed by their marvellous technique and beautiful tunes. Well done to all involved.
On Friday 10th December, Father Christmas, his helpful elf and Rudolph arrived to see Firetips. What a special experience for our littlest learners!
Year 6 wowed the people of St Albans with their festive songs this afternoon. Positioned next to a glittering carriage near St Albans Museum, our brilliant choir attracted the attention of members of the public who gathered to watch and listen to them. They confidently sang a selection of songs, including 'Jingle Bell Rock' and 'Last Christmas'. We are so proud of our choristers for representing Margaret Wix so well and for sprinkling a bit of Christmas magic in St Albans today.
On Tuesday 7th December and Wednesday 8th December, our children from Early Years and Key Stage One, performed a brilliant Christmas Concert with wonderful singing, dancing and readings. Well done to them and thank you to all our parents and carers for attending.
Author Grant Strong inspired us to use our imaginations to create fantastic stories when he visited our school on Tuesday 7th December. It was so brilliant to see the children inspired by his story Running Deep during their class workshops and the whole school assembly. Many children purchased a book after school and received their very own signed copy.
On Thursday 2nd December, the whole school brought decorations from home and decorated our school Christmas tree, kindly donated by Ruby's Mum and Dad. It looks very pretty in the corner of our hall.
On Thursday afternoon, our local PCSO came to talk to the children in Key Stage Two about the pitfalls of being online and using social media. Please do check the age recommendations for the social media that your child is accessing. A parent mail was sent out yesterday advising on this.
Today the children listened beautifully and realised how words online can hurt someone just as much as words in real life.
Rabbi Zvi Solomons “visited” us this afternoon to talk about Hanukkah. He explained that the Jewish festival commemorates the recovery of Jerusalem. He told us that the Maccabees successfully revolted, capturing a temple and the menora that was inside. They had little oil, but a miracle happened and the oil lasted 8 days meaning the lamp was lit for much longer than expected. This is why Hanukkah is also known as the Festival of Light. It is fantastic to meet people of different faiths and learn about their special celebrations!
