  • Enhancing RE learning in Year 6

    Tue 30 Apr 2024

Mikhail’s mum kindly joined us in year six this afternoon to share her experiences and beliefs in order to help us with our learning in RE. Year six are considering what makes a good person and whether, for Muslims, belief in life after death is what motivates people to do good. Mikhail and his mum talked to us about their faith, shared photos and even brought in two prayer mats for us to see. Monarchs enjoyed the opportunity to ask lots of questions and then reflected on how there are similarities between Islam and others religions. We also considered that those with no faith also shared values of kindness and respect for others

  • Maths Challenge for Year 4

    Mon 29 Apr 2024

Our year four maths team competed in the Herts maths challenge on Monday afternoon. Mrs Gibbs said it was a tough challenge with a particularly tricky estimation round. The team did really well, scoring full marks in two rounds! Their total score was 157 out of 200 - an excellent result. We are extremely proud of Davina, Diego, Eli and Hin and are now waiting for the other heats to take place before we find out if we have a place in the grand final. Fingers crossed

The children had a sweet treat and excitedly played board games, putting lots of maths skills into action in the process! Well done to the children for working hard to reach stage 12 - we had more than 30 at the party today, which is an increase on the number who attended in the autumn term!

  • Year 4 Maths Challenge begins again!

    Mon 22 Apr 2024

Meet our year 4 maths challenge team! This afternoon, Eli, Davina, Diego and Hin spent time with Miss Abbott attempting the pre-round, which involved identifying as many pentagons as possible within a larger shape. The children are confident they’ve found them all and are excited to compete against other schools in the year 4 maths challenge heats next week. Will this team be able to replicate the success of last year’s team?

  • Eid Assembly

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

This afternoon, we were joined by a special visitor, Faizah, who shared her faith and experiences of Ramadan and Eid with us. Many of our pupils and staff have recently celebrated, and it was wonderful for everyone else to hear all about these special occasions. Through Faizah’s assembly, we learned why Muslims fast and when. We also found out that the Qur’an is written in Arabic and we heard it being spoken. In addition, Faizah showed us beautiful clothing and prayer mats and we learned what Eid celebrations involve. Thank you to Faizah for visiting us
