13. How will the school prepare and support my child to join the school, transfer to a new school or the next stage of education and life?

We recognise that ‘moving on’ can be difficult for a child and especially those with SEND. Margaret Wix takes steps to ensure that any transition is as smooth as possible. We tailor plan transition programs to support pupils transitioning to a new year group, key stage and school based on the individual needs of the child. We provide, when needed, SEND pupils with transition books filled with pictures of their new class, teacher and TA. Additional visits to their new class are also carried out. The level of support required is dependent on each child’s needs, age and development. We liaise closely with new schools to support transition visits. If you have any concerns that your child is worried about transition or moving on, please contact their class teacher.

Each year group has a ‘Parent Class Representative’ and these parents are there to support new to school families and those within the class to ensure all good communication and support is available via the parent forums.
