Margaret Wix Primary School is a successful, vibrant school - a school where children come first. We are a one form entry school with a PAN of 30 each academic year.

Starting Reception in September 2025
If your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021; your child is due to start primary school in September 2025.

If you are unable to attend any of the dates, please call the school office who will be happy to arrange another time for you to visit.
Starting Nursery
Children born in the school year September 2020-August 2021 will be eligible to start in the Nursery class in September 2024.
Children born between 1st September 2021 and 31st December 2021 will be eligible to start in the Nursery class in January 2025.
Children born between 1st January 2022 and 31st March 2022 will be eligible to start in the Nursery class in April 2025.
Children born between 1st April 2022 and 31st August 2022 will be eligible to start in the Nursery class in September 2025.

Nursery Sessions
We offer each child an entitlement of 15 hours (30 hours if entitled) and are proud to be able to offer flexible sessions to suit you and your child.
Session times: Morning 8.40am (soft start) – 11.45am; Full days 8:40am-3:15pm
The options available to you, are as follows:
Option 1: 5 morning nursery sessions
Option 2: 2 and 1/2 days (this includes 2 full days and 1 morning session)
Option 3: 5 full days Monday to Friday (30 hours)
If spaces are available, you can also pay for extra sessions. Do speak to Mrs Ralph or one of the office staff to enquire about this.

Our Nursery day
Below is a typical morning routine in Nursery-
Busy fingers

*Full day children will join Reception class to head to lunch. The afternoon session then consists of an adult led activity, more child initiated, group activity with reception class, more story time and joining the whole school for some assemblies.
Nursery have P.E on a Tuesday and Thursday morning (with Reception), Library on a Wednesday morning and Music (with Reception) taught by an external music teacher on Wednesday morning.

You can apply to more than one school but must send each school an individual application form. Your application must go directly to the school, not Hertfordshire Schools Admissions.

Starting School Packs are sent out by Hertfordshire County Council to those parents who have children due to start in Reception.

“Moving On” to Secondary school packs are sent out by Hertfordshire County Council direct to those parents who have children in Year 6 due to start senior school in the September.
