Margaret Wix Primary School
Soon, your child will be moving up to year six. Whilst change can be exciting, we understand that children also need support with this. We already have a pastoral transition programme in place that includes opportunities for pupils to spend time in their new classrooms, with their new teacher(s) and teaching assistant(s). Alongside this, we are further developing our academic transition support to help pupils adjust to the increased expectations of their new year group, in English and maths in particular. In June, Miss Abbott held a meeting for year five parents during which the expectations for pupils in core subjects were explained. Ideas and resources were also shared during the meeting that will help you to reinforce key skills at home so that your child can get off to a flying start in September. A copy of the presentation can be found below. Your child should have brought home the resource pack even if you were unable to attend the meeting.
Also shared at this time, was a presentation (accessible below) about next year's residential trip. If you wish for your child(ren) to participate, a deposit must be paid before the end of this academic year, on Arbor. Please speak to Mrs O'Connor in the office for further information about this, including if you are in receipt of pupil premium and require a small discount.
