Margaret Wix Primary School
Year six are having a brilliant day at RAF Hendon. We have enjoyed an engaging workshop, which included a short film about the Battle of Britain. In the workshop, we also learned about some incredible people who played important roles in the battle, such as Douglas Bader who became a squadron commander after having both legs amputated! We loved looking at the artefacts and even trying on some of the uniforms! Seeing the aircraft that actually flew during WWII was incredible too; we were in awe at the size of the Lancaster bomber in particular! We’ve seen curiosity in action today as the children enjoyed exploring the museum. They also showed great respect for others - our workshop leader complimented the children on their effort and behaviour. 🌟
