  • Hummingbirds and Emperors Visit Hertford Museum!

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

What a fantastic day Emperors and Hummingbirds have had at Hertford Museum! We found out all about the Andrews brothers who opened the museum in 1903. We handled lots of different toys from the past and considered which materials they were made from and how they were different from the toys we have today. Our favourites included a kaleidoscope, spinning tops, a jack in the box, a teletubby, a much loved teddy bear and a yo-yo!

  • Year 5 and 6 Visit the Science Museum

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

Wow! What a wonderful day we’ve had at the Science Museum in London. Monarchs and Admirals loved the hands-on opportunities to investigate in the Wonderlab: we tested friction by speeding down slides made of different materials, saw sound waves in action as they vibrated through water, investigated light and shadows, built electrical circuits and much, much more!

After lunch, we explored the Space Gallery where we saw a projection of different planets, rockets and satellites, an astronaut’s space suit, the Apollo II capsule and even a piece of moon rock! We have been impressed by the behaviour and love how curious and excited they’ve been by science!

This week, the Margaret Wix community collected lots of goods for the Food Bank. We delivered them into the van ready to help others. Thank you to everyone for the generous donations.

  • Quidditch Day

    Fri 07 Oct 2022

Combining a love for reading and a wonderful sporting event, Margaret Wix Primary School, took part in a Quidditch Day! It all began with a reading of Harry Potter in our Early Morning Library Session, followed by a sorting hat part in our Celebration Assembly and then games of quidditch for the whole school. The day turned out to be truly memorable!

  • Crazy Hats for Well-Being

    Thu 06 Oct 2022

Today, our children wore crazy hats to highlight the importance of well-being and looking after our mental health. We also made donations to help create a well-being garden for us all to enjoy. We celebrated our day with a pizza lunch and a special hat biscuit, after our fun hat catwalk!
