  • Letters from Nursery to Santa!

    Thu 30 Nov 2023

Nursery headed out beyond our gates today for a special trip to the post box. This week we have been exploring the book ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman.’ We wrote our very own letters before posting them, ready to be collected by the jolly postman himself. Scout was a very good addition and role model for our school too.

Amazing work and outstanding responsibility from our littlest learners!

  • Year 5 Sharing Assembly!

    Thu 30 Nov 2023

What a treat this morning - Admirals class shared SO much learning in their sharing assembly! Through listening to their sharing, we have learned lots of fascinating facts about life-cycles, saw some amazing Mayan mask creations, listened to brilliantly written diary entries and reports, found out how to play the Mayan game pok-a-tok, and even tasted some chilli hot chocolate!

  • A very special visitor from the Natural History Museum!

    Thu 30 Nov 2023

We used our learning power of curiosity this morning across the school when visited by Dr Chris, who works at the Natural History Museum in London. He is a scientist with an interest in insects and we were lucky to have him share his knowledge with us this morning. We loved seeing creatures from his collection and finding out fascinating facts such as that the smallest beetle in the world is even smaller than a full stop!

  • Choir Trip to The Abbey!

    Wed 29 Nov 2023

Incredibly proud of each and every single choir member’s resilience on the walk to and from the Abbey today. They sat and represented our school beautifully and sang wonderfully. We couldn’t be any prouder and hope more join the fun next year

  • Year One Trip to Local Area!

    Tue 28 Nov 2023

Hummingbirds really enjoyed their local walk this morning, which is part of our geography topic on the local area. They walked very sensibly to the local shops, spotting different human and physical features along the way. They also found out about different types of housing in the local area, such as flats, terraced and semi-detached houses. It was a bit chilly but everyone was well wrapped up in winter coats and high viz jackets!

  • Year 6 Trip to Tring Museum!

    Tue 28 Nov 2023

Did you know that a polar bear’s skin is black? Having black skin enables the polar bear to keep warm as it absorbs the sunlight in the North Pole. This is just one fascinating fact that Monarchs learned in their adaptation workshop at the Natural History Museum in Tring this morning. The children enjoyed looking at different specimens, including a monitor lizard, hedgehog and genet, and considered how they are adapted to suit their environments. After their workshop, the children loved exploring the museum and seeing the wide variety of creatures on display - they even enjoyed the opportunity to dress up as some of them!

  • Year 5 trip to Tring Museum!

    Tue 28 Nov 2023

Year 5 have loved exploring everything that Tring Museum has to offer. It was such a great opportunity to consolidate our science learning on living things and their habitats.

  • Walk to school to save the environment and promote healthy living!

    Wed 22 Nov 2023

We had a great time bouncing to school with the bears this morning!

  • Wondrous Writing Week

    Wed 22 Nov 2023

This week, we have been celebrating writing across the school by inviting parents and carers to join our English sessions. Lots of learning happened for both young and old across the school and the feedback was very positive:

I really enjoyed my session today. It was especially great to see how engaged my child was with the teacher when she delivered the lesson. Each child contributed during the delivery of the lesson and small adjustments were made so that my child could produce a fantastic piece of work. My child is thriving at Margaret Wix. Thank you for welcoming me into the classroom today.

It's a good insight into how they're are taught.

The teacher was animated in her delivery. Made me want to write about the Amazon!

Yes was great to see how the children are taught & what tasks they are set in class to complete.

I find these workshops really useful as an insight to how the children are taught. It’s great to see their writing at parent consultations but it’s great to see how they get to that result.

Yes. I got to see my daughter's involvement with the lessons and the teachers. I enjoyed her interest in finding ways to approach the solutions.

I enjoyed the session, teacher and teaching assistant keep helping and support students to listen to English in different ways.

Thank you very much again! I loved being able to come into my daughter's class and see her in action. I enjoyed seeing how Mrs Rowson gets all the children engaged in the task with fun things like Kung Fu punctuation.

Really well taught and fun for the children to keep them engaged and focused.

Looks like you're doing a great job. The school has a clear focus on reading/writing as the bedrock for wider academic achievement.

It was great. Lovely to see the interaction between the teacher and children, how the children built on each other's ideas. Personally, I enjoyed seeing my daughter's thought processes when deciding on specific words/phrases.
