Margaret Wix Primary School

Frank Cottrell Boyce "comes" to Margaret Wix!

Years 5 and 6 took part in a live BookTrust lesson with famous author and #WaterstonesChildrensLaureate, Frank Cottrell Boyce. Frank is a lifelong champion of children's books and reading. He has pledged to dedicate his Laureate role to showing the transformative benefits of children's reading and access to books.

He is an award-winning author, writing humorous tales such as Millions, Runaway Robot, The Wonder Brothers and many more. Though the live lesson, we found out about the inspiration of Frank’s stories, why he loves children's books so much and heard writing tips from the master of storytelling.

If you have read any of Frank’s books, let us know your favourite. Miss Abbott recommends ‘Cosmic’, which is a fantastic tale about an 11 year old boy who has had a growth spurt and looks more like an adult. The book details the adventures - and mishaps - that he gets up to including when, on his first day at school, he is mistaken for a member of staff! If you haven’t read any of his books yet, maybe you could borrow one from the library next time!
