Margaret Wix Primary School
Marvellous Maths Week began with Tim from HSBC visiting our classrooms to share the real-life importance of mathematics. From EYFS to year 6, children learned about financial maths (including saving, spending and budgeting) through interesting and engaging activities.
Early Years learned about different coins and their values.
Year 1 practised counting with Dotty the Ladybird and learned about the value of money and the importance of saving with other woodland characters.
Year 2 looked at the cost of buying toys and considered how long it would take to save up for a toy.
Year 3 explored offers in a supermarket and how these can affect our spending decisions.
Year 4 developed an international understanding of money as they planned a trip across Europe.
Year 5 learned about the buying cycle and considered offers when shopping online and in-person.
Year 6 explored how easy it is to get carried away with spending and learned about the hidden costs and added extras involved when planning a day out.
