Margaret Wix Primary School
This morning, Monarchs took part in an online workshop about empathy and migration. We learned that there are many reasons that people might choose to move to another country including disasters, such as war or earthquakes, but that some people also move for better education or employment options. We thought about how it would feel very different to be forced out of your country compared to being able to make a choice to move. The children tried to put themselves into the shoes of others and empathise with how this must feel. Some children in our in our class shared their own experiences of moving to a new town or even country and the challenges they faced. Together we agreed on a few things that we would do to welcome newcomers to our school including: showing people around; helping them when needed; being kind and including people in games; trying to empathise with them; and more.
